ABSTRACT

Based on the current situation and development trend of the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, combined with three major frontier scientific problems and three major engineering and technical problems needed to be solved, the crux of the modernization problem of TCM was identified, the way to solve the modernization problem of TCM was put forward, and the decisive role of supramolecular "qi chromatography" theory of TCM in cracking these problems was elaborated. The human body and Chinese materia medica are observed clearly in the long history of biological evolution in nature, while supramolecular chemistry has played an important role in analyzing the evolutionary trajectory of life and tracing the origin of TCM theory. In the long process of biological evolution in nature, all kinds of molecules in nature follow supramolecular chemistry, forming supramolecular bodies according to "imprinted template" step by step, from simple to complex, from inanimate inorganic complexes to living enzyme systems, from single simple molecules to complex supramolecular machines, through which the interaction of the biological molecules runs in the chain of organisms composed of supramolecular bodies. Meridians, which are the result of the orderly arrangement of the "imprinted template" channel structure step by step, are the basic form to control molecules. Under the impetus of human heart beating, the small molecules substances dissolved in blood migrate into and act on according to the "imprinting template" embed in main macromolecule of meridians and viscera. It shows the anisotropy of the action of meridians and viscera on small molecules, that is visceral phenomena, on which the essential of life science and the original theory of "principle", "method", "prescription" and "medicine" for TCM will be clarified. Major scientific and engineering problems of TCM will be solved on the basis of supramolecular chemistry, and the basic theory of TCM will be reconstructed and modernized into a union with contemporary medicine.

ABSTRACT

Pharmaceutics of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is a comprehensive applied discipline integrating theory with practice, and it is a main core course of the undergraduate major of TCM with the characteristics of combining inheritance with innovation, theory with practice, integration with specialty. According to the characteristics of this curriculum and the current research situation of teaching model, this paper proposes to construct the " Fang-Zheng-Ji-Dao" characteristic teaching model of Pharmaceutics of TCM, and the construction, implementation strategies and methods of the model were elaborated in order to provide new ideas and methods for the innovation of the teaching model of Pharmaceutics of TCM.

ABSTRACT

This paper was to discuss the case analysis method for teaching basic theory of TCM. First, it is found that case analysis can help improve learning interest of students and develop their abilities of thinking and analysis. Secondly, it can play a solid foundation for students to study the following professional basic courses and help them gain the interest of other courses, and understand the continuous knowledge of TCM. Finally, it benefited teachers to develop their ability of teaching and clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the biological mechanism of the Lingering Toxins Theory in ulcerative colitis (UC) by clinical trials. Methods Forty patients with UC at mild, moderate active stage and at remission stage were enrolled into the experiment. Twenty cases of UC patients at active stage were divided into Chinese medicine intervention group and western medicine treatment group, 10 in each group. Twenty cases of UC patients at remission stage were also evenly divided into Chinese medicine intervention group and western medicine treatment group. All patients were given conventional western medicine treatment, and additionally, Chinese medicine intervention group were given oral use of Chinese medicine decoction, the treatment course covering 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, plasma matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP -1), tissue inhibitor ofmetalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) expression levels were observed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) . Results Plasma MMP-1,TIMP-1, and PGE2 expression levels in UC patients were positively correlated with disease severity (P0.05) . After treatment, the expression levels of MMP-1 and TIMP-1 in remission-stage patients of Chinese Medicine intervention group were decreased (P0.05) . Conclusion There is a relation between plasma MMP-1, TIMP-1 expression levels and the “lingering toxins” in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. The biological mechanism of toxins-removing therapy in treating UC may be associated with the decrease of the plasma MMP-1 and TIMP-1 expression levels.

ABSTRACT

The theory of'preventing possible disease'in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is an important content of present theoretical and applied researches in TCM.After learning Daoxue and Chinese medicine, the author believes that ancient people give more attention to vitality than physique. Most of the diseases are caused by the injury of vitality,so the key to 'preventing possible disease'is not only conservation of the physique, but also conservation of the vitality. It is emphasized that the heart can communicate with natural pneuma, and the body can follow the qi transformation of nature when the human body is in the natural state. When one concentrates his spirit internally and keeps a sound mind, the genuine qi will come in the wake of it,and illness can be avoided.Researches on the theory of'preventing possible disease'must not ignore the apprehension and exploration of vitality.

ABSTRACT

To discuss the effects of medical policies and social background in Song Jin Juan dynasties on TCM theoretic development and innovation. To summarize the achievement in the anatomy, classical writings, etiology and pathogenesis theories, theory of visceral manifestation, meridian theory and their guiding roles in the clinic practices. At last,we analyze the influential factors of development of the basic theory of TCM,it provides some traces for the further study on basic theory of TCM.

ABSTRACT

There was severe logical contradiction among the basic concepts in Chinese medicine such as syndrome, symptoms and signs, etiopathogenisis and pathogenesis .In this paper, from the comparative reseaech of the different versions of Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used in higher colleges and universities of TCM in recent 50 years, higher Colleges of Chinese medicine materials, it cleared up the evolution of the basic connotation of syndrome, symptoms and signs, pathogens and pathogenesis, and revealed fundamental reason for the occurance of logical contradiction.

ABSTRACT

The chief cause of cancerous pain include six climate exopathogens, internal damage by excess of seven emotions, improper diet and deficiency of vital qi.Accumulation of cancerous toxin, intermingled phlegm and blood stasis and obstruction of meridians are the basic pathogenesis of cancerous pain, among which the accumulation of cancerous toxin is the key point of the pathogenesis, and phlegm and blood stasis are main pathological factors, the both are cause and effect for each other. The deficiency of vital qi is the internal factor of the disease. The location of disease concerns the relative viscera and meridians. The nature of disease is deficiency in the "root" and excess in the "branch" and excess in the "branch" is the main aspect. The therapeutic rules of the disease are removing toxic substance and removing stasis, resolving phlegm to dredge collaterals. And removing cancerous toxin is the crux of the therapy, and resolving phlegm to removing stasis should be applied from the beginning to the end.

ABSTRACT

The pharmacodynamic methodology of Chinese materia medica (PMCMM) at present was discussed comprehensively in this article and the problems were found While the primary study on the PMCMM was carried out This article offers that the development of the science of Chinese traditional medicine is the premise and basis of the study of PMCMM, especially that the breakthrough of modern study on the theory of viscera state and channel theory and channel tropism theory leads dominantly the study of PMCMM; the four dimensional system theory has been investigated in PMCMM, on the two dimensional basis of the physical foundation of medicinal efficacy and the mechanism of medicinal efficacy, the time dimension and human spirit dimension are added
